Cover Letter

Hello. I'd like to introduce myself. I was recently in Bolivia, South America, to do research for my Master's paper. I took my youngest son with me. I also have three older children, all adults. I love children, and love to show them new things. When we were in Bolivia, I taught my new friends and their children some English. I also have Vietnamese friends here in the USA who I have helped with accent reduction. It has been about 15 years that I have known them. We have gotten busy with our lives and do not talk as much as we used to, but we are still friends. I learned a little bit about Vietnamese culture from them, and what I liked most is that family is very important to the Vietnamese people. Family is very important to me, also, but in the USA, many people do not feel the same way.

While in Bolivia, my friends and I touched on grammar, idioms and slang, general conversation, pronoun usage, pronunciation, telling time, money usage, and a few other areas. I found that even the little knowledge I have about their language and pronunciation helped me a great deal in teaching several of those aspects of English usage to my friends. Because of this, I would like to take Vietnamese lessons myself, if at all possible.

Regarding my son, Karl, it's been my goal to teach him in as global an environment as possible. I would like to either enroll him in a school that teaches the students while using both Vietnamese and English, or receive assistance in locating someone who will care for him while I am teaching and attending to other duties.

I'm mostly interested in teaching in an area that is at least semi-rural. I love the slower pace of the country, and I don't mind helping my neighbors out. I want to get to know people on a one on one basis, because that way I can learn Vietnamese culture and also enjoy watching my son learn new things.

Thank you for reading!

Very sincerely,

LorriAnne

Passport

I just wanted to say that this is a horrible picture of me. I have more pictures of me, recent ones, in the first post.
